KOCIS (Korean Cultural Information System or Koh's Cultural Information System)
is a dynamic information retrieval tool for teaching and research on Korea
with innovative indexing, data quality control and interactive features
resulting from over 40 years of development. The KOCIS Information Archive,
1st edition, enhances teaching and research related to the INSTROK lessons.
It comprises selected texts and bibliographies primarily on Choson dynasty
belief system, values, family, social class and women with socio-cultural
perspectives rather than historical orientation. The recent web-based application
of this system will be helpful to those seeking easy access to both the special
characteristics of Korean culture as well as modern vehicle for comparative
cultural inquiries.
